The Golden Boy Oscar De La Hoya has the confidence that the current World Boxing Council Welterweight Champ Victor Ortiz will defeat Floyd Mayweather Jr. on September 17, 2011.

Victor Ortiz, the newly crowned WBC Welterweight Champion is a young and fast fighter. He's in the best shape today after beating and upsetting Andre Berto via unanimous decision victory on last April, 2011. Ortiz maybe a small guy to Mayweather yet he is very talented. Victor Ortiz can fight toe-to-toe or punch at distance but I don't think he can breaks the defense of Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Oscar De La Hoya, the former world champion saw for the first time in Floyd's eyes that there is something fear behind, probably the fight with Ortiz or/and maybe some problems in his case. Fighting Ortiz is not a good choice for me even he is the underdog of this bout, because if ever it might be the first loss of Mayweather co'z Ortiz suddenly changed his image right now in boxing. He improved a lot in his recent fights and one of the best boxer in the welterweights nowadays.

The last time Mayweather fought up in the ring was the bout against Shane Mosley on last May, 2010. It's been 14 months of inactivity in boxing, and it will be 16 months when the fight comes, but I do believe Floyd Mayweather Jr. still have the capability to fight well and wise. If Floyd wins, then Pacquiao is next in line in 2012. If not, then it's a big history in boxing.
